What is GLA:D?

GLA:D is an evidence-based program specifically designed to improve the lives of people living with knee and hip Osteoarthritis.

Who is the GLA:D program for?
​
The GLA:D Program is designed for people with osteoarthritis to help manage their symptoms, reduce pain, and regain mobility. If you’re experiencing signs of osteoarthritis (OA), book a screening with one of our GLA:D trained physiotherapists to assess your suitability for the GLA:D program.
How does the GLA:D program work?

The GLA:D program follows a unique framework of one-on-one coaching, group movement sessions and education sessions teaching you how to manage your osteoarthritis by:

What Does the GLA:D Program Include?
​
Initial appointment

Discuss the program in detail

Measure your current functional ability
Two live group education Sessions of 1 hour duration.

Learn about the most up to date evidence-based understanding for osteoarthritis, risk factors, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
Small group exercise sessions

Attend twice weekly for six weeks
-
Focus on improving joint control, strength and confidence in movement ​
3-month review
-
Discuss your program with your GLA:D clinican
-
Reassess your functional ability and refine your goals
Follow-up questionnaires
-
Complete questionnaires at registration and again at 3 and 12 months to measure changes in pain, function, quality of life, and medication use
